Chapter 1: The Concept

The master bathroom remodel was focused on both enhancing functionality and elevating the aesthetic of the space with a modern, luxurious feel. The client selected a timeless combination of white and black marble, which creates a striking contrast, while the addition of gold fixtures brings warmth and a sense of luxury to the space.

The bath before: a honey wood vanity with a white framed mirror and a globe vanity light, beige floor tile, and the old shower stall at the far end. — Before and during

The bath before: a corner soaking tub with a white tile deck under a window with a woven shade, and green walls. — Before and during

Chapter 2: The Plan

Key structural changes included removing the existing shower and tub, relocating the wall between them to create a more open and functional layout, and adding a fully enclosed water closet for privacy. The water closet now features a convenient linen closet, increasing storage without compromising space.

Existing and new floor plans of the 8 foot 4 by 9 foot 9 master bath: the old tub, shower and wall are removed, and the new plan has a walk in shower with two rain heads, an enclosed toilet room with a linen closet, and a double vanity with a center tower.

Reflected ceiling and electrical plan: recessed down lights, two exhaust fans, a sconce over each sink, GFCI outlets including one in a drawer and one in the cabinet, and an electrical schedule.

Chapter 3: The Details

The design incorporated a new custom vanity with sleek countertops, stylish sinks, updated faucets, and elegant lighting, all selected to complement the overall sophisticated look. Recessed medicine cabinets were also integrated for added storage without cluttering the space. The curbless shower system adds a seamless transition and modern touch. The double rain head shower, provides a spa-like experience while remaining water-efficient.

Vanity wall elevation: a double vanity with a center tower and drawer stack, a mirror and three light vanity light over each sink, arabesque white marble wall tile, and the existing toilet in its own room to the left.

Shower elevation: two rain heads, a wide window with a solid surface sill replacing the old glass block, a nook, a solid surface bench, and a note that the floor is recessed for a curbless shower with access from the unfinished basement below.

The Curbless Shower

The shower floor is recessed into the floor framing, so the bathroom floor runs into the shower with no curb. Recessed ledgers carry a lowered subfloor panel under the shower tray and waterproofing, with access from the unfinished basement below.
