Chapter 1: The Concept

The design of this kitchen incorporates the use of environmentally friendly materials while still addressing the current needs of a blogger as well as their future family’s growing needs. Organic materials will be integrated into the design, showcasing modern technological amenities and features.

The existing space is an empty shell. A kitchen, of 20’ x 20’ minimum is an absolute must. The client is very earth conscious, and as such recycled materials and solar energy are requirements for designing the space.

Open, Open, Open. Walls will be minimal in this space. Defined spaces will be identified by transitional furnishings and patterns. The kitchen will be the focal point of the home. A herb garden and compost area will be built into the kitchen.

Two work triangles could be utilized if necessary, with a second cook having access to the combination warming drawer and microwave and secondary sink dishwasher combo.
