Chapter 3: The Design
Phase One: Strategic Planning and Space Optimization
The CK12 Foundation’s corporate office relocation began with a meticulous inventory of all existing office furniture, cubicles, and related items. Detailed measurements of both the current furnishings and the new office space were taken to ensure a seamless transition. A comprehensive design plan was developed to determine the optimal placement of cubicles and furniture, maximizing efficiency and functionality. This plan served as a guide for the movers, ensuring all items were positioned accurately and efficiently in the new workspace.
Phase Two: Creating an Inviting and Inspiring Environment
To enhance the workspace, thoughtful design elements were introduced. A plant service brought greenery into the office, creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. In the reception area, a large Full size art installation featuring the company’s colors and logo became a statement piece, embodying CK12’s identity. The breakroom kitchen was transformed into a serene, garden-inspired retreat with large floral photographs taken from the director’s personal garden, while still maintaining company branding, creating a place employees enjoy visiting and like to stay hang out in. For moments of reflection, a dedicated zen area was established, complete with a full size zen coffee table, featuring tools, stones, and bonsai, offering employees a peaceful escape within the office.
